Hypnosis for
Anxiety & Fear

Fear, anxiety, panic attacks and stress are common in our culture.

The most frightening element of these emotions is the feeling of being out-of-control. This is particularly frustrating for intelligent people who experience periods of crippling fear.  Thoughts and talking are usually of little help when fear has taken hold.  Nonetheless, most people find themselves engaged in extensive efforts to try to trick or outsmart the reaction patterns.

These feelings originate within older structures of the brain.

The processes of logic simply do not apply here.  The emotional / subconscious parts of the brain overrule logical processes.

Essentially, emotion is the language of the subconscious mind.   Our work specializes in reaching beyond talk and reason to help balance emotional reactions.

Relaxation techniques, EFT, hypnosis and self-hypnosis are tools that deal directly with the emotions.

These techniques can dramatically reduce or eliminate many aspects of anxiety. Also of interest…  Anxiety is a process of the imagination.  A core goal in the work is to release the imagination to the creative and constructive purposes of the individual we are working with. This is usually dynamically helpful as it redirects focus from negative or crippling imaginings. The subconscious mind would much rather play than worry.

We begin with stress reduction.

We have come to think that excess anxiety contributes to many of the physical conditions that we work with in our office.  Our bodies are not designed to deal with the levels of fear and stress we experience in modern life.

Some forms of fear we work with regularly

Specific fears including Heights, Flying, Bridges, Elevators, etc.

Success Stories

The following recent case (October 2007) relates to a woman whose family was afraid she was on the verge of starvation:

Patrick,

I have to tell you how amazing it was to watch my mother eat things this evening that she has not been able to eat for the last few years. We are having to remind her not to over eat because her body is being shocked with all of the foods she is trying to eat. She is tired and still has a long way to go but, it seems that she is now moving in a positive direction. Last week we were starting to talk of about putting her in a nursing home when she declined further. We were told that she would probably not last another month.

Now, we have hope that she will recover from this.

She is HUNGRY and the smell of food is no longer repulsive to her. Thank you so much. I will keep you posted on her progress!!

Sincerely,

Lori U.

Testimonial from the mother of a teenage client:

Hi Patrick,

Ben had missed 3 out of 4 school ski trips last year because of his anxiety/panic attacks. The night before the trip he would be up all night worried and anxious. He went this year with no problems. He had a great time. His anxiety has disappeared. He has not been obsessed with his grades as he was before. He seems to be more comfortable around his peers, I can’t believe the difference in him. As a parent we all want to see our kids happy and well adjusted. He has suffered from this ailment most of his life, his unhappiness was mine also, because I suffered watching him suffer.

I have no idea how this works, I’m just glad it does.

How can I express my gratefulness?

Best regards,

Doreen

Elevators

A number of our clients have been afraid to use the elevator in our office building.

Since moving to this location four years ago, there have been twenty-six people who were too frightened to ride the elevator to the third floor. All had actually come for other reasons such as smoking or chronic pain.  The fear of trapped or falling was a separate feeling they had been facing for many years.

General Fear and Public Places

We worked with a lovely young woman, in her early twenties.  She was visiting her grandmother locally, from the west coast.  The grandmother had been a client of ours in the past and had successfully eliminated hot flashes and some elements of anxiety. She encouraged the granddaughter to visit our office.

The young woman was deeply frightened of being in unfamiliar public places.  She was afraid to leave her house or to be around strangers.

We only had time to schedule three sessions during her trip. She was a highly responsive client and experienced success quickly. After the work she was able to shop at Providence Place and eat comfortably at the food court.  She was so happy with these changes that she was in tears at her final session.

In twenty of these cases we were able to process this fear sufficiently within 15 minutes, using EFT, to allow them to use the elevator. Several of the other cases were also successful after additional time and work. We then proceeded with the other work they had come for.

Patrick helped me with something I was struggling with for many years. After a session with Patrick, I was able to fly without taking any medicine !!! Not only was I able to get on an airplane to Seattle, Washington from Rhode Island, but I was able to go on a Busch plane in Alaska without thinking twice about stepping on the tiny plane.
